In the early days of computing, most of the processing inside your new IBM or Apple II was done in one place. The CPU (Central Processing Unit) was doing almost all the work. But as greater speed was demanded, engineers soon figured out that they could split up the tasks that normally went to the CPU and instead have those tasks go to various sub-processors throughout the computer. Graphics would go to a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), storage needs would be sent to a processor that handled the memory, audio management would go to another processor, and so on. To handle all the requirements quickly, tasks had to be categorized by type and shipped off to a specialized processing unit, and then when that type of information was needed, that processing unit was asked for information that it had previously digested.
This distributed processing approach led to some surprising side effects. Before, if the CPU had a fault, the computer just crashed. Now if a sub-processor has trouble, the computer might be able to keep running, but in a hampered state. If the GPU has trouble, you might be unable to read the screen, but the computer could keep running. If there are storage issues, the computer could return a message that some information is not available, but keep running, or it might be able to piece together the information needed from other portions of memory, at the cost of extra processing. In other words, distributed processing could result in degraded computer function without a complete shut-down.
When technology mimics techniques that already exist in nature, it makes a major step forward. The distributed process approach is what has been designed into our brains, helping them to be lightning fast. We have five senses that process the information that they receive into forms the brain can then use. We have portions of our brains that handle involuntary functions, growth, motor function and coordination, and of course thinking. Information is sent into our memories, where it is stored until needed. The ways that information is categorized may surprise you though. A memory, for instance, may be composed of previously received sensory fragments, a recording of certain thoughts that occurred at that time, and emotions that were felt at the time the memory was formed. These aspects of the memory are like tags in social media, where each tag can give access to a particular memory, or another memory with a similar tag. When the memory is triggered, emotions associated with that memory may then affect pulse, hormonal changes, and perception, especially when the emotions are intense.
The downside is that we can have brain function degradation without even realizing it. We may be “a little off” or “in a bad mood”, but still carrying on with our lives in what we think is a normal way. Our coordination may be subpar one day without any other apparent issues, or we may seem to be doing well physically but our focus is poor or our mood is down. These are signs of imbalance. If you are experiencing a bad mood, you may not even be able to figure out what is causing it because the multiple memories, thoughts, nutrition levels, oxygen, hydration, and rest/rejuvenation that are currently affecting your brain function are unknown to you. If you’ve ever seen a computer crash report — the ones that appear to be gibberish and usually are sent to Microsoft or Apple when your computer goes crazy — you know how many (probably incomprehensible to you) things that can go wrong with a computer. Your brain is much more complex, and aspects of your brain function are heavily intertwined.
The brainwave window
In any portion of your brain, connected neurons are firing together when that portion of the brain is doing something (which is basically all the time). These coordinated firings produce rhythmic waveforms called brainwaves. Different portions of your brain will have different brainwaves that are unique to that portion of your brain, and your brainwaves are constantly changing and are unique to you. We can detect and record brainwaves with an electroencephalogram (EEG) since the brainwaves extend beyond the brain.
As scientists are recognizing the significance of brainwaves, more studies are being conducted to see what they are telling us about mental disorders. In one review of the various studies, published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience(1), Sapien Labs in Arlington, Virginia researchers compiled results of 184 EEG studies of most known psychiatric disorders. They compared the power levels of the five classic brainwave frequency ranges (known as delta, theta, alpha, gamma, and beta) against specific mental conditions. They discovered that some disorders, primarily ADHD, schizophrenia, and OCD showed a major increase in the lower frequency bands (delta and theta) and decrease in the higher bands (alpha, beta, and gamma). The studies showed that we can see imbalances in the brainwaves by frequency, although we are still not able to decode specific brainwave communication or understand the full orchestra of all the brainwaves taken together.
The various frequency ranges tell us a lot about the state of activity in various brain areas, but we aren’t so sophisticated as to understand their “language”. These waves allow a brain region to “broadcast” information to neighboring cells and other portions of the brain. While we don’t know exactly what they are communicating, we get a good indication as to whether the brain is showing a proper balance of brainwaves. We can even introduce waveforms to reinforce some brainwaves and bring about a better balance.
Treat your servant well
Your brain is the servant of your mind. Sometimes we confuse the two, but your brain is the machinery meant to carry out what your mind thinks, believes or perceives. Your mind depends on the brain to be in good working order. When it is, your mind can think clearly, your emotions are appropriate for your thoughts, and your will can get things done. When your brain is out of balance, you may want to do something only to find that your foggy thinking, poor concentration, lack of desire, or conflicting thoughts get in the way.
Your brainwaves are part of the communication network within the brain, and into the rest of your body. They can tell us when your brain is having trouble, and therefore when your whole body is having trouble. Your whole body, including every single cell, is one massively interconnected network of distributed, special function processors all working together towards a common goal. Your brain is at the top of that network, meaning your brain controls all cellular functions.
Your brain is constantly changing
This is a good thing. However, your brain is not changing as fast as it did when you were very young, and it will slow further as you age. Maturity is a good thing, and as your brain matures, it is more stable and less changeable.
Don’t let that daunt you. You can still learn, still improve, still expand your brain function at any age. But the earlier you realize that your brain is settling into patterns, becoming more “set in its ways”, the sooner you can steer it in a good direction. You know this about your physical body: it’s easier to build strength in younger years, but you can strengthen at any age.
As technology is giving us more and better tools to look into the brain during its development, we are learning more about how the brain matures. Published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, researchers studied two groups of young adults: one with a parent or sibling with bipolar disorder, and the other without such a genetic connection. They observed through diffusion-weighted magnetic imaging (dMRI) technology that the connectivity (the communication) between the emotion regions of the brain and the cognition (thinking) portions of the brain weakened over a two year period in those with a genetic predisposition to bipolar disorder, while those in the control group strengthened that connectivity. They suggest that genetic and imaging testing could help spot those at risk of this mental disorder and promote improved brain communication while the brain is developing. They suggest that this brings psychiatry and other branches of medicine closer together. Of course, holistic medicine has been saying that they are essentially one already, treating the mind and body together.
Medicine often overlooks brain function, yet it is key to your health. Through genetic testing, brainwave analysis, and imaging techniques we can observe mental function issues which in turn produces organ, gland and tissue dysfunction. When we balance these areas of the brain or get them “in tune” then the mind and body work as they were designed to. Your brain is “mission control” for every cell in your whole body, so keeping it in top shape is necessary to achieving maximum health.
Dr. Nemec’s Review
The keyword is frequency. Frequency is defined as pulses per second or cycles per second. The higher the frequency the higher the energy. Every wave in the electromagnetic spectrum is defined by a certain frequency. We can look at frequency as a defining character of a certain substance.
In the Frontiers study it was quite interesting to see that certain brainwave frequencies are associated with certain mental and emotional disorders. Where this research is going in the future is that all disease will be defined as an imbalance in the normal frequency pattern from the brain. If the brain controls the body, and it does, then the way the brain controls the body is through these electromagnetic frequencies. We have been measuring frequencies on patients for over 40 years. This is extremely important in restoring homeostasis or balance to the mind/emotion/body. Brainwave frequencies can be analogous to the frequencies that a television station emits. The receiver of the emitted frequencies is the TV which receives and displays them on the screen as a picture with sound. The frequencies broadcast from the brain actually makes a pseudo-reality. The reason the word “pseudo” is used is because, depending on what frequencies are emitted, the sound and visual picture can make you happy or sad, can make you laugh or cry, can make you calm or fearful. Your entire mental and emotional state, which affects your physical health tremendously — almost exclusively — can be changed in an instant depending on the frequencies broadcast by the television station (the brain). The brain can broadcast a story that is a comedy, an inspirational story, or a horror story — all will have significant effects on your cellular health because your cells are your receivers, they are the televisions. Your health is totally controlled by what you’re broadcasting. Can you see the power of what your brain broadcasts to the cells of your body? That’s why over the last 40 years our goal with patients has always been to bring balance to the brainwave frequencies, which then balances the mental and emotional state, which balances the physical state of the patient; but if you do not balance brainwaves and you do not balance neurotransmitter function you will not balance any organ, gland or tissue long-term.
Look at it this way: let us say a person is broadcasting a subconscious stress program of fear, meaning this program started before age 6 so the person has no remembrance of the fearful event or situation, but it’s still a program written on the hard drive of the brain which broadcasts a certain brainwave pattern 24/7/365. This causes stress molecules to shut off the immune system, throw off the digestion, and inflame and eventually damage brain cells. All of this just from frequencies being broadcast, which might not even be based in truth — instead it’s just a perception that stored in the brain and broadcasts as a program. That is why nobody heals unless you first balance brainwave function, which then affects neurotransmitter function, which then affects hormone function, which then affects gland, organ, tissue and cellular function.
Well, so much for cutting out a tumor and removing the lymph nodes because that did not change any frequency being broadcast. That’s like throwing away your TV. In doing so you didn’t change the frequency, you just removed one of one of the receivers. The problem is every one of your trillions of cells is a receiver and you can’t kill them all or you would kill you. So the only way to the highest level of health of body, mind, and spirit is to balance brainwave function / balance brainwave frequencies. That is why people come from around the world because of our unique Nemec New Medicine® protocol of 3-D brain imaging, brain mapping, and Heart Brain Entrainment Therapy, along with all of our other therapies, to balance all the other systems of the body. But if you don’t balance the brain, all of the rest is very temporary.
In the second study published by the American Journal of Psychiatry, the results showed that genes can affect communication between the brain, mind and emotions. This is why we do epigenetic genetic testing on all of our patients. Genes do not hurt you as long as you know which ones are slower than normal because you can epigenetically alter these genes to maximize their function with diet and lifestyle recommendations. We’ve seen patients where everyone in their family of a certain gender dies by age 60 of a certain disease. But when the patients start on our program and we balance brainwave function and balance the genetic blueprint epigenetically, then these patients can live a long, healthy, active life into their 90s and beyond.
